Kitui Deputy Governor HE Wambua Kanani represents Governor DR Julius Malombe during relief food distribution from state Ministry of East Africa Community, Arid and Semi Arid Lands and Regional Development headed by Cabinet Secretary HE Penina Malonza in Kitui Rural Sub County.
Today, residents of Kitui Rural Sub County have received relief food totaling 2,000 bags of both rice and beans. This is to cushion the majority of whom are peasant farmers after their maize crops were sunk by excess rain water witnessed from El Nino downpour.
The County Government of Kitui in its part, has set aside 3% of the development budget to tackle ELNINO losses among them displaced persons and washed away roads which forms the bulk of what Elnino affected the most.
o far, more than 600,000 people have been affected, with 271 reported cases / incidents which require emergency response with an estimated budget of 830 million required for the whole of the county alone.Speaking during the exercise, the Deputy Governor HE Wambua Kanani assured residents of the County Government’s continued collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to better their lives.
CS Malonza on her part promised to pull more resources, targeting Kitui County in order to bring equity to the region so much marginalized.
