Kitui Offers support to Katangi Accident Victims Families

The County Government of Kitui has announced burial support to victims of the 10 families affected by the Katangi accident along the Kitui- Machakos highway.

In an update to the members of the fourth estate earlier today, Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe said his administration will offer support to families of the victims to aid in buying coffins, hiring tents and buying water, waiver of mortuary fees alongside offering physical support by sending members of his cabinet to represent him during the burials.

The accident which has so far claimed 10 lives among them nine adults and a child involved a 41- seater matatu that was ferrying passengers from Kitui to Machakos.The county chief called on the responsible agencies and persons to put stringent measures to curb road carnage emphasizing the need for all public service vehicles to be properly maintained, black sports well mapped and road signs installed at the appropriate places.”One life lost is one too many, it has actually left a void in our community that can’t be filled” he said.

The Governor further expressed his gratitude to Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and her government for their prompt action to provide medical care to the accident casualties and their commitment to waive all the medical fee of the patients admitted at the Machakos Level V Hospital.Ends//
