Caritas Kitui, in collaboration with the National Democratic Institute, recently hosted a pivotal Public Debate that united stakeholders from various sectors, including the County Assembly of Kitui, civil society, budget champions, media, individuals with disabilities, and representatives from women and youth.

The forum aimed to comprehensively disseminate and discuss the analysis presented in the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) Report for FY 2020/21 and 2021/22.

This impactful event, broadcasted live on Radio Thome 88.1 FM, shed light on crucial audit issues, such as pending bills, a high wage bill, stalled projects, own sources of revenue, lack of value for money, financial regulation violations, and insufficient records and support documents for payments.

Notably, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, the Kitui Pastoral Centre Conference will host the Kitui County Public Debate, continuing the mission to delve into the analysis of Kitui County’s FY 2021/2022 report by the Office of the Auditor General.

This Financial Accountability project is a collaborative effort between Caritas Kitui, the National Democratic Institute, and IEA Kenya.
