The new 53 million shillings dormitory at Saint Charles Lwanga Secondary School in Kitui County was commissioned on March 6, 2024.

Safaricom Foundation’s Chief Risk Management and Security Officer, Nicholas Muinde Mulila, served as the chief guest, officially opening the dormitory co-funded by the foundation, parents, and the Board of Management.

Mulila, also the BOM Chairman, expressed joy, emphasizing the foundation’s commitment to education. The dormitory, catering to 800 boys in the 1,500-student school, received a 26 million shillings contribution from the Safaricom Foundation.

Mulila highlighted the foundation’s broader support for Kitui County’s development, extending beyond schools. Saint Charles Lwanga Secondary School is one of Kitui’s 183 public secondary schools and part of the Kitui Catholic Diocese-sponsored 125 public secondary schools.

Chief Principal Archippus Mwinzi thanked development partners, especially the Safaricom Foundation, for their continuous support.
