The homecoming and Thanksgiving Ceremony of Tharaka MCA, Honorable Muthengi Ndangara, marked an unprecedented moment in history, etching its significance into the annals of our time. It drew an immense crowd from every corner of Kitui County, Tharaka Nithi, and beyond, converging at The Great Tana Campus Grounds in Kamayagi Market, Thagichu subcounty, my beloved village.
This remarkable event transcended political boundaries, uniting leaders from neighboring Kitui and Tharaka Nithi counties, traditionally divergent in their political trajectories. It provided a unique platform for these leaders to address shared developmental and political challenges facing the Thagichu region.
Personally, emerging from this event, I am transformed, honored with the title of Tharaka Elder and recognized as a spokesperson for my community, entrusted to advocate for our interests locally, nationally, and internationally. It’s a distinction rarely bestowed upon someone of my age, but the Tharaka elders acknowledged and rewarded my unwavering commitment to championing the rights of my community, transitioning from a respected media figure to an emerging force in politics.
The esteemed presence of leaders such as Honorable Kiio Wambua, Senator of Kitui County and Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate, alongside a delegation from Tharaka Nithi led by Governor Muthomi Njuki, underscores the significance of this gathering. Accompanied by a cadre of distinguished professionals, including Professors Muriungi and Njoka, this event symbolizes unity, progress, and collaboration towards a brighter future for Thagichu and its people.
