Mbooni, Kenya – July 19, 2024– Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior has issued a stern rebuke to Raila Odinga and the ODM Party following the disruption of Kalonzo Musyoka’s press conference on July 17, 2024, at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation.
During a development tour in Mbooni, Governor Mutula expressed his dismay at the incident, emphasizing that the Wiper Party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, will not be coerced into joining any dialogues. He highlighted that Kalonzo deserves respect after supporting Raila Odinga in three previous elections.”I saw goons who stopped Kalonzo’s press conference.
If I were to be asked, I would advise him to leave Azimio. Raila will not force us to do what we don’t want; if he wants to join Ruto, let him go and leave us alone. Kalonzo will not be forced to do what he doesn’t want,” stated Mutula.Mutula condemned the violence at the press conference and demanded that ODM treat Kalonzo Musyoka with respect.
He warned that continued disrespect could have severe repercussions. “We can even send bees to them. I condemn the acts of violence. What is now paining people is the constitution my dad left; they killed him, and he left a constitution that can’t just be changed anyhow,” he added.
The governor praised Kalonzo as a suitable leader who could uphold the Constitution and called out public officials for their opulence and misappropriation of public funds. He urged for peace and unity in Kenya, warning against the dangers of war and anarchy.”I pray for peace; if you have never seen war, just go to your knees and pray.
When you substitute peace for war and anarchy, you can never return to peace. If you want to try, ask the people of Somalia. Kenya must remain a united country,” Mutula cautioned.The incident has raised tensions within the Azimio coalition, with members calling for calm and mutual respect as political dynamics continue to evolve.
