“Empowering Communities: Kitui Governor Joins President Ruto in Flagging Off Health Promoters’ Kits”
Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe (EGH) attended the flagging off of the Community Health Promoters’ kits to counties by President William Ruto (Dr.) at Uhuru Park today.
The kits aim to empower and equip CHPs with essential tools to enhance healthcare access and promote healthier communities to achieve this goal.
The flag-off at Uhuru Park has also attracted other Governors from across the country, key government officials, including the Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, and the Council of Governors officials.
The 100,000 CHPs who have already been trained nationally will be unveiled on Mashujaa Day celebrations in October.
The training of the CHPs has been done together with other partners and the CoG.
The CHPs are trained members of the community who work as a link between the community and formal health facilities and are responsible for providing basic health services such as health education, disease prevention, and treatment.
Kitui County has 2470 trained CHPs, out of which 2373 have been enrolled in the 100,000 roll-out for kits by the national government.
The CHPs have been enlisted to provide primary healthcare, which seeks to transform health services from curative, preventive, and promotive approaches.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also attended the event.”
