Kitui County youth have accused the Kenya Kwanza government of sidelining the Kamba community, particularly in Kitui, during key national appointments. The youth claim that all national government projects in Kitui have stalled and are urging President William Ruto to ensure the county receives its fair share in government representation.
Speaking in Kitui Town after visiting the offices of the National Liberal Party (NLP), the young leaders demanded that Kitui be given its rightful stake in national governance. They emphasized that the lack of appointments for Kitui leaders in the cabinet and other government positions is a form of discrimination against the region.
In a bold political move, the youth also called on National Liberal Party leader Hon. Augustus Kyalo Muli to run for president in the 2027 General Election. They expressed confidence that Muli is the only leader capable of championing the interests of Kitui County and the Kamba community at the national level.
Earlier, Hon. Muli had declared his intention to contest for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in 2027. However, with growing pressure from his supporters, his political path may take a different turn as the region seeks a stronger national voice.
The youth reiterated their commitment to pushing for fair representation and development projects in Kitui, urging the government to prioritize the county’s needs. Their demands highlight growing discontent among the region’s residents over perceived marginalization by the national administration.
