Nairobi, Kenya – In a appearance before the National Assembly’s vetting committee, led by Speaker Hon Moses Wetangula, National Treasury and Planning Cabinet Secretary nominee John Mbadi highlighted his significant contributions to the development of the Public Finance Management Act, a cornerstone of Kenya’s financial governance.
During the vetting process, Mbadi disclosed that he was part of a distinguished task force responsible for crafting the Act. This team included Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, Central Bank Governor Dr. Kamau Thuge, and former Finance CS Dr. Henry Rotich. The World Bank funded this initiative, aiming to create a robust financial framework for Kenya, which has since become integral to the country’s economic management.
Mbadi emphasized his professional credentials, asserting his competence and dedication whether in political circles or private practice. He praised his colleagues, noting Dr. Malombe’s pivotal role in shaping the Public Finance Management Act, which is now a vital tool for all Kenyans.
The vetting committee is currently assessing Mbadi’s qualifications and vision for the National Treasury and Planning portfolio, with a decision expected soon.
