Mwingi North – Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu paid tribute to Agnetta Peter, former education Chief Officer, during her burial in Mwingi North. Ngilu lauded Agnetta as “the most hard-working lady,” highlighting her significant contributions to the education sector.
In her speech, Ngilu also touched on the political landscape, expressing her intention to persuade Raila Odinga to support Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid. She emphasized that it was time for Kalonzo, who has been a steadfast supporter of Odinga, to receive backing for his own presidential ambitions.
Ngilu encouraged Kalonzo to seek votes beyond the Ukambani region, urging him to expand his political influence across Kenya. “It’s important for Kalonzo to move out of Ukambani and garner support from other regions,” she stated.
Regarding the gubernatorial race in Kitui for 2027, Ngilu remarked that it mattered little who among David Musila, Julius Malombe, or herself became the governor, as they are all members of the Kamba community. However, she asserted her belief that she is the best candidate to succeed Malombe. “While any of us could be a good leader for Kitui, I believe I am the best bet to take over from Malombe in 2027,” Ngilu concluded.
The event was attended by various dignitaries and community members who came to pay their respects and reflect on the legacy of Agnetta Peter.
