Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai (UDA) and nominated Senator Beth Syengo (ODM) have been appointed to lead the implementation of the ODM-UDA Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the Ukambani region. The announcement was made during the official signing ceremony at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) today.
The MoU, a product of negotiations between the two parties, seeks to strengthen inclusivity, devolution, and national dialogue while addressing key concerns such as youth empowerment, corruption, national debt, and the protection of citizens’ rights. It also aligns with the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, aiming to promote governance reforms and regional development.
Speaking at the event, MP Mbai reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the agreement is implemented effectively. “We are dedicated to championing the commitments set forth in this MoU and ensuring that the voices and needs of our constituents are prioritized,” he stated. Senator Syengo echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of unity in driving the region’s transformation.
The selection of Mbai and Syengo signals a new era of political collaboration between UDA and ODM in Ukambani, with the leaders expected to rally stakeholders in executing the MoU’s objectives. Their leadership in this initiative is set to shape the region’s political and economic landscape in the coming months.
