In a bid to improve access to essential eye care services, Jordan Hospital Ltd., in partnership with Maxivision Eye Clinic, has launched a free three-day eye medical camp in Kitui County. The camp, which runs from November 21 to November 23, is being held at the Jordan Hospital Grounds in Kitui Town, starting at 8:00 AM daily.

Led by Dr. Nyenze of Maxivision Eye Clinic and supported by medical officers from Jordan Hospital, the camp aims to serve over 600 patients each day. The initiative addresses the pressing need for affordable and accessible eye care in the region.

Services Offered at the Camp:

Free eye check-ups

Free reading glasses for elderly residents

Free frames for students

Subsidized cataract surgeries and eye drops

The camp has been met with overwhelming gratitude from Kitui residents, many of whom face challenges accessing affordable eye health services. Elderly patients have praised the free reading glasses initiative, while students expressed relief at receiving free frames to support their studies.

“Eye care is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of healthcare. This camp is our way of giving back to the community and ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing quality eye health services,” said Dr. Nyenze during the launch.

The subsidized cataract surgeries are expected to have a transformative impact, restoring sight to many who suffer from preventable blindness.

Residents commended the partnership, noting that such collaborative healthcare initiatives are vital in addressing public health challenges.

Jordan Hospital and Maxivision Eye Clinic have set a benchmark for impactful outreach programs, emphasizing the importance of partnerships in enhancing the health and well-being of communities.

The free eye medical camp continues until November 23, offering a lifeline to hundreds in need of critical eye care services.
