In a step towards empowering local farmers, Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo on Monday afternoon joined Kitui County agricultural officers in presenting a cheque of Ksh 250,000 to the NZATTA Farmers SACCO at Kiusyani.
The cheque, which is part of a grant from the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project, aims to support farmers in the region.The grant is a key initiative under the agricultural project designed to bolster farmers by improving access to funds, resources, and training. By investing in agriculture, the project seeks to enhance productivity, create wealth, and alleviate poverty in rural areas.
Speaking during the cheque handover, Hon. Ndingo emphasized the importance of agriculture in driving economic growth and improving the livelihoods of the local community.He noted that empowering farmers is essential to tackling poverty and promoting self-reliance in the region.”Agriculture is our wisest pursuit, because in the end, it will contribute most to real wealth and eradicate poverty,” Hon. Ndingo said.
The NZATTA Farmers SACCO expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to use the funds to enhance agricultural productivity and the welfare of its members.This grant is part of broader efforts by the government and various stakeholders to support the agricultural sector and improve the livelihoods of farmers across the country.
