A delegation led by Eastern Regional Commissioner Mr. Paul Rotich visited and was received at the Kitui Ginnery by the Kitui County Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele.
The objective of the mission is to assess the current status of the kitui Ginnery and field verification of expansion of acreage under cotton production from 26,000 acres to 200,000 acres and avail BT Cotton seeds.
He was accompanied by Kitui County Commissioner Mr. Kipchumba Rutto.
During the visit, the Kitui County Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr. Kimwele Mbaya emphasized the county government’s commitment to supporting farmers in the cotton value chain.
He highlighted that under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, efforts are being made to boost cotton farming in the region through the provisions of advisory and extension services to farmers. Dr. Mbaya reiterated the continuous commitment on partnership and collaboration with the national government to uplift the economic livelihood of Kitui people.
